Medical Weight Loss Program Query
Does anyone have any medical weight loss program recommendations? Non-surgical is preferred? Something the is medically supervised and includes counseling would be ideal. Also, something covered by insurance would be great. Thanks in advance.

Running in Austin
is anyone in here a runner? i'm both new to austin and new to running, and have recently discovered the wonderfulness of the town lake trail. it gets a bit lonely running there by myself, and i'd love to join up with some people to do it together. that is, if anyone besides myself is insane enough to wake up early saturday morning to beat the heat.

Okay....couple of things.

In an effort to be as active as possible, I'm going to be doing a ton of activities. I would invite some of you all to attend, if you're interested.

I love playing racquetball. I have a membership at the Y, so you wouldnt have to have one. I live way south (Convict Hill area) so I go to the one on 290, and if you're south, Id totally be interested in playing.

Summer is com ing up, which means volleyball. Aussie's and Zilker. Anyone up for some sand ball?

I also want to try and get into crew rowing this summer. Anyone interested or know anything about that?

Bikes.....not for me...people in this town drive like idiots with no regard for their surroundings (I'm one of them) ....so thats not the way I wanna exit this world.

Want to get Healthy Again...Need Guidance
Anyone able to recommend a personal trainer that wont drain my checking account?
My apartment has a decent fitness facility...so I am hoping to not have to join a club of any sort...but I am open.
I am looking for someone who is not only physical but spiritual. I have plenty of time now, and more than enough determination. I used to play hockey and soccer and was in aikido...so I have a fitness background.

Arigato in advance.

To be careful....
This is for people on Atkins diet....

I just read a post where the news channel did an expose on Subway, and analyzed their chicken bacon wrap.

It was discovered that it had 18 net carbs instead of 8.

So if you eat at Subway, be wary of this. I'm pretty sure someone soon, or Subway itself, will have its products put up for test to see if what they advertise is what it holds...

HI!

I just moved to Round Rock in October. I moved in with my girlfriend and I've gained 10 comfort pounds since.
She just joined Gold's gym, and I might join as well. Any other members?

Her and I have opposite schedules 80% of the time, so I was wondering if anyone wanting to hang out and walk or go to the gym or whatever.

This town fitness wise....
City is starting to lose its flavor...

I remember (when I was a wee lad back in middle school) that when we moved here, there were racquetball courts everywhere, and people always biking on 360 and 2222 and other areas of the city.

What happenned??

We have Town Lake, and thats really cool, but we dont wanna become one of the "fattest" cities, like our neighbors.

Just an observation.....

Racquetball in North Austin?
I hate exercise. I was going to the gym pretty regularly but lately I haven't been motivated. However I really like racquetball. Is there a place to play in North Austin? I mean north of 183 like Round Rock? A YMCA opened up a while ago on McNeil near Parmer... do the have a racquetball court?

And on a dieting note...
Ive really enjoyed the new Atkins friendly wraps at Subway. Not the most filling things, but good nonetheless, and good if I'm in a hurry.

My question is....does anyone know where in town they sell the low carb tortillas. I can have beef, and cheese, and sour cream, and even shredded lettuce, and I'd like to play make believe Taco Bell again :D.

Welcome.
First post of the new Austin fitness community.

Right now, in an effort to stay as mobile as possible, I'm looking for people who love to play racquetball. Im 2 months into this Atkins diet (and I've lost 50 pounds so far) and I need to make use of all this energy I havent had in years. I plan on signing up for a membership at the YMCA, so if you live near South Austin-Oak Hill or Town Lake, and wouldnt mind getting together to play some racquetball, drop a line.

BTW, with me having the membership, you wouldnt have to worry about one yourself.
